August Activities

August 3-7
Theme: Picnic at the Park

Monday: Math - make a butterfly that shows symmetry using paint. Song- “The Ants Go Marching.”

Tuesday: Art - Make a plate full of food out of magazine cut outs for the picnic.

Wednesday: Water Day! 4:00 Music with Miss Joanie

Thursday: Dramatic Play - Act out if we were going on a picnic outside. Song - I am going on a picnic.

Friday: Art - Make thumb prints with ink and make insects at the park: ants, caterpillars and more.

August 10-14
Theme: Picnic at the Park

Monday: Art - Make sunflowers using different shapes

Tuesday: Game - Sort the items we should bring to a picnic and ones that we shouldn’t.

Wednesday: Water Day! 4:00 Music with Miss Joanie; Art - Make a sun out of a paper plate

Thursday: Art - put ketchup (red paint) and mustard (yellow paint) on their hot dog

Friday: Walk to feed fish at the park, Snack - make watermelon pop-sickles

August 17-21
Theme: Rainforest

Monday: We will create a mural of trees and animals in our classroom

Tuesday: We will continue working on our mural

Wednesday: Water Day! 4:00 Music with Miss Joanie

Thursday: Sensory - make slime. Toddlers will feel the slime and pretend it is a froggy

Friday: Art - make rain sticks out of toilet paper rolls

August 24-28
Theme: The Rainforest

Monday: Math - graph your favorite rainforest animal

Tuesday: Art - make binoculars out of toilet paper rolls and pretend we are going on to the rainforest to find animals

Wednesday: Water Day! 4:00 Music with Miss Joanie

Thursday: Song - the Itsy Bitsy Monkey went up the Coconut Tree

Friday: Dramatic Play - Act as though we are monkeys
