Things we’re learning in pre-school.

We’ve been busy! Here are a few of the things we’re learning and talking about at Little Dreamers, Big Believers Columbus pre-school. Here’s a note from our pre-school teacher, Ms. Jessica.

Things to Ask Your Child About:

• We are working hard at reading the alphabet and learning the sound for each letter! Our letter of the week is “V”. So many interesting things start with the letter “V”. Ask your child how many he or she can name for you. A few to ask about: vultures, volcanoes, veterinairans and Venus.
• Do you know all the important parts of a letter? We are learning them through our daily morning message where I write a letter to the class each day. A great way to help your child with reading readiness is to be a writing role model. Let your child watch and assist you with as many writing activities as possible. When your child sees you writing letters, making lists, even typing emails they will be curious about what each word means. Plus anything you do they will want to do too. And just like that you have created a meaningful learning experience for your child and sparked a desire to want to be a great reader.
• We have started a new month - March! March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Check out our bulletin board filled with lions and lambs we made this week.
• We earned a popcorn party! Every time our class does a great job of putting away their toys and learning materials we earn a sticker to add to our chart. We earned 25 stickers and celebrated with popcorn and a fun movie. Great job!! We are doing a fantastic job of being responsible and taking care of our things. Our next goal is a root beer float party.

Notes for Moms and Dads:

• The weather in Columbus is finally staring to warm up and we love to get outside as much as we can. Please send your child with weather appropriate clothing. If you’re unsure about the forecast, layers are always a great idea. Also, you can keep an extra sweater or jacket and hat and mittens in your child’s cubby just in case.
