NOTE: We have been experimenting with different ways to deliver our activities and menu via our Web site in the most efficient way possible.

Putting up the entire month’s activities and menus in one easy to print PDF seemed the best solution. If you have any issues with the links above or in printing out the activities or menu, please see Sarah for a hard copy or leave a comment on how we can improve this post.

April 13-17

HERE’S A NOTE ON WHAT WE LEARNED AND TALKED ABOUT LAST WEEK FROM LITTLE DREAMERS BIG BELIEVERS PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS, MISS JESSICA AND MISS HEATHER.

Theme: Rain and Rainbows

Things to ask your child about:

  • We learned all about the water cycle. We know that a cycle happens over and over again without stopping. First the sun heats the water on the earth and it evaporates into water vapor. As the water vapor travels higher and higher into the sky it cools and we can see the water as a cloud! When the cloud can’t hold any more water it falls back to earth as rain. The rain lands in puddles, rivers and oceans and the when the sun shines on them the water cycle begins again!
  • We have been working hard on learning our numbers in preschool. Miss Heather’s class played a number game where they had to put raindrops numbered 1-10 in the right order. Miss Jessica’s class played a game where we used raindrop manipulatives to help us practice addition problems. We were all really good at these games!
  • One story we read this week was It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw. In this story the author sees clouds that are shaped like many, many things. We created our own pages to add to the story. Some of our clouds were shaped like butterflies, a smiley face and even polka dots!
  • We also did cloud counting with marshmallows. It takes fewer marshmallows to fill up a small cloud shape and more marshmallows to fill up a big cloud shape!
  • Rainbows need two things to appear in the sky - sunshine and raindrops. When the sun shines through the raindrops at the right time we can see a beautiful rainbow in the sky! We didn’t get to see a real rainbow in the sky this week but we painted some to decorate our classroom. We hope to see one soon!

Rainbows are very colorful! D you know all the colors in the rainbow? We do! And we know that we can make every color in the rainbow from just red, blue and yellow paint.
