March 23-27: Spring has spring!

Here’s a note on what we’re learning and talking about this week from Little Dreamers Big Believers pre-school teacher, Miss Jessica and Miss Heather.

Our theme this week is Spring and the letter of the week is “Y” for yellow.

Spring is the season between winter and summer. It is full of exciting changes! During springtime the weather changes a lot. Some days still feel like winter but other days feel much warmer. There is lots of rain during spring, which isn’t always the most fun for us but plants are starting to grow! We have spotted leaves growing on trees and flowers starting to bloom outside. Last Friday we planted zinnias, sunflowers and basil in our classroom and the seeds have already started to grow! We are counting them and graphing the number on our plant chart everyday! We also did a counting game where we had to count leaves and add them to tree. Some of us were able to count 20 leaves on the tree.

During the spring you may need special clothes depending on the changing weather. What do you need for the rain? We dressed our paper friend Henry in a raincoat and hat, rain boots and an umbrella to keep him dry. We’re glad to put away our mittens and snow boots until next winter. Miss Lori did special springtime yoga with us this week. We pretended to be seeds that grew toward the sun. We even got watered with the spray bottle! We will be learning even more about how seeds grow next week when we learn about plants!
